Home Use Problems
I bought the LVC-9016 with the intention of copying our 8mm movies of our wedding and child's birth to DVD, however it is not working out for me. I was able to copy some of the 8mm tape over, after which I did not use the unit for a couple of weeks. I returned to continue copying my tape, which the unit would not let me. It kept stopping the recording stating 'protected content,' which is really frustrating. I decided to record directly to DVD from the TV (I have basic cable), again it would stop the recording and show 'protected content.' I tried looking at the manufacturer's website for help after I reviewed the system manual over and over. There was nothing on the website that would help with diagnosing what the potential problem could be? I was really frustrating trying to get technical help, so I reset the unit back to the manufacturer's default setting, and powered down the unit. As it appears, there may be a battery inside that is powering the EPROM chips so the unit does no lose any bios settings. The last time when I powered on the unit and tried to record from an 8mm or TV, I was still getting the same problem. I can't figure it out, and if I have to choose or recommend this unit, I would not, and here is the reasons:1) The unit does have easy navigation - Plus
2) Price - Plus
3) Technologies - Plus
4) Technical Support - Poor
If a normal consumer is thinking about buying high tech equipment, make sure there is good technical support in case you are having problems. I am not going to give up on this product, because I hate to lose. So I am going to continue trying to figure out why it is not recording as it should. If anyone would like to drop an opinion, I would appreciate it.
