The 1151, a differential pressure (DP) transmitter from Emerson Automation Solutions, spent 40 years in the industry before Emerson discontinued it in 2011. Like any other DP transmitter, it measured flow, level, and of course, pressure. It came in two models, one analog, the bare-bones basic model, and the other the smart device.
The housing of the smart device had two buttons, zero and span, to set the upper and lower range values (URV and LRV) in the field. It also had two switches. The write-protect switch prevented changes to the configuration data, and the failure mode switch allowed you to set the failure mode to high or low. Besides those features, the smart device could also use HART over analog to give you digital communication.

Emerson offers two replacement options for the 1151. If you go to Emerson’s website, it’ll suggest the 3051. However, Emerson also has a simpler and cheaper version, the 2051. The 3051 has more wetted part options and a bigger rangedown (150 to 1 against the 2051’s 100 to 1). It also has the option of Power Advisory Diagnostics in addition to the basic diagnostics of the 2051. The two devices have slightly different designs as well.
