Thus, as I recently meandered to the checkout lane with some medicated ointment, I passed an endcap display of “discounted” Soundlogic Bluetooth earbuds. Of course, I had to take a second peek, especially since I’m hoping that Santa will stuff my stocking with a decent pair of Bluetooth headphones.

At $19.99 ($22.49 on Amazon), these babies aren’t going to blow your clothes off or eardrums out, but they’re decent. Remember, they’re $20, not $200 — though price doesn’t always guarantee performance.

I’m loving the compact nature of the headphones, and really loving the fact that there’s no cord attached to my Android device. I walked around my office and house testing the distance. Sound and sync worked fine up to about 30 feet (10 meters) — some users report up to 50 feet — and only dropped out in a couple of hidden spots, like the garage.

But that’s probably the extent of my super positive reviews.

Sound quality isn’t fantastic, though it’s likely on par with other corded earbuds. I’m still waiting for a noisy situation to see whether they can handle airplane noise and allow me to watch a movie during a flight — spoiler, probably not.

One of the annoying features, which will require some getting used to, is that the buds don’t fit comfortably in the ear. For being “one size fits all,” these buds barely fit into my ears, though once they’re in, they work fine. Of course, the package comes with a larger and smaller replacement cover, but even those ended up being horribly inadequate.

Ultimately, I settled for the default size. I must have “normal” ear canals.

I also had a really difficult time trying to get these to pair with my phone. The phone recognized the earbuds, but would abruptly disconnect the Bluetooth connection. I spent roughly two long minutes trying to get the connection. Obviously, this isn’t a long time, but Bluetooth pairing isn’t rocket science (well, maybe…) either.

The package comes with a set of Bluetooth earbuds, the varying sized earbud covers, and a USB to micro-something charger.

I’m not really sure about how long these babies last on a charge, but judging by the 6 reviews on Amazon, battery life looks like 1-2 hours, max. Although, considering that the device is roughly the size of a quarter, I think 2 hours is a pretty good time.

I’m fairly confident these won’t last more than 60 minutes of continuous play.

Overall, I’m pleasantly surprised with the performance to value of these headphones. So, if you happen to be in a CVS or Walgreen’s store, and see these guys on an endcap, I wouldn’t hesitate making an impulse purchase. At the very least, you have a $20 stocking stuffer for that tech guy or gal.
